Creating a Zen sub-domain for E-mail & Web space

Aim of this article:

In order to make use of the e-mail accounts and Web space provided with your Zen Internet access package, you must first choose a Zen sub-domain which will be the Web site address of your Web space, and form the basis of your e-mail addresses.

You can choose any sub-domain of the form: mysubdomain.myzen.co.uk providing it is available (and not a reserved word).

This article shows how to set this up using the Customer Portal.

Accessing the Zen Portal

To access the Customer Portal browse to:

https://portal.zen.co.uk

If you have previously registered for a portal account, enter your e-mail address and password and click Sign In, and then click Continue. If you have not registered, click the Create Account button and follow the instructions provided.

Creating your Zen sub-domain:

Next you need to find your Zen Internet access account, and create the sub-domain for it.

Once logged in you will be presented with the Portal Home page.

Click the My Services button in the top menu bar.

You will now be presented with a list of options and tools relevant to your Zen Internet service(s).

Select Create Subdomain from the general section.

Click the blue Select button to the left of your Zen ADSL service.

In the Sub-Domain box fill in a sub-domain of your choosing. This will form a myzen sub-domain, so for example if we fill in the sub-domain support then the Zen sub-domain will be support.myzen.co.uk

Click the Check button to check if the chosen sub-domain is available.

If your chosen sub-domain is available then you should see a message similar to the one above and can now select the Create button and setup your sub-domain.

If your chosen sub-domain is not available then you should choose another and try again.

Once the sub-domain creation is complete you will see the message above.  You may now alter the settings for the sub-domain by pressing the Settings button.

A FTP password for the sub-domain Web space is automatically created when the sub-domain is created.  You can view this password by clicking on the + to the right of the FTP Password.  You can also change this password by entering a new password into the New FTP Password field and pressing the Save button.

Your new sub-domain is now created, please allow up to four hours for the Web space / e-mail accounts to become operational.

Accessing your Web space:

You can view the Web space for this sub-domain by browsing to:

http://www.mysubdomain.myzen.co.uk/

The FTP server would be: ftp.mysubdomain.myzen.co.uk
The username would be: mysubdomain.myzen.co.uk
And the password would be as chosen or automatically created

For the example above the Web space would be located at:

http://www.support.myzen.co.uk/

The FTP server would be: ftp.support.myzen.co.uk
The username would be: support.myzen.co.uk
And the password would be as chosen or automatically created

Accessing your e-mail:

You can now create up to 10 e-mail accounts to use with your Zen sub-domain.
Please refer to the Related Article here for help creating these accounts.

NOTE: The Delete button will remove this sub-domain, the Web space and any e-mail accounts that have been set up (together with any stored e-mail on our server.) Please be careful to only use this option if you are sure you want to remove all of these. Once the sub-domain has been removed you can then follow the same process to create a new sub-domain.
