Administering E-mail accounts
Aim of this article:
This article demonstrates how to set up e-mail accounts hosted on your Zen Web hosting package.
How to set up an e-mail account:
Firstly you should log in to the cPanel control panel.

Click on the POP Email Accounts link under the Email Management section.

You will now be presented with a list of the current e-mail accounts. You cannot remove the default account, but other accounts can be removed if you so wish. To add a new e-mail box click on the option Add Account.

- Fill in the first part of the e-mail address for the new account, and select the part after the @ symbol from the dropdown list. The list will contain all the parked domains on this account.
- Fill in the password you would like for this account in the Password box.
- If you wish to enforce a maximum disk quota that this account is allowed then fill this amount in (in Megabytes) in the Quota box.
- Lastly click the Create button.
Configuring your E-mail program manually
In order to configure your e-mail program for the new e-mail account you may need the following details:
- The e-mail address will be the e-mail address set above
- The username will be the same as the e-mail address. (You can replace the @ symbol with a symbol if so desired)
- The password will be the password set above
- The incoming mailserver (POP3) should be subdomain.myzen.co.uk (where subdomain.myzen.co.uk is your subdomain name as supplied with your Web hosting account)
- The outgoing mailserver (SMTP) should also be subdomain.myzen.co.uk (where subdomain.myzen.co.uk is your subdomain name as supplied with your Web hosting account)
- SMTP Authentication should be on, using the same username and password as above.
Adding additional addresses to an E-mail account and using forwarders:
In order to add additional e-mail addresses to an e-mail account (e-mail aliases) you will need to add them as forwarded addresses. E-mail forwarders can also be used to redirect email to externally handled e-mail addresses.

From the Email managment section of Cpanel select the Forwarders option.

Click the option Add Forwarder to add a new e-mail forward.

- Fill in the first part of the e-mail address you want to use in the first box, and select the 2nd part from the dropdown menu. In the 3rd box fill in the full e-mail address you wish this to be forwarded to. This can either be an e-mail address that has been set up on this web hosting account (for an alias), or some externally handled e-mail address.
- Once complete click the Add Forward button.
* NOTE: E-mail that is not directed to an address that is set up as an E-mail account or a Forwarder will be placed into whichever e-mail account is set as the default. In order to change this behaviour (or the default account) you should select the Default Address option from the E-mail management section of Cpanel, and follow the instructions below.
Default address setup:
E-mail sent to an address that has not been set up as a specific account or forwarding rule will be placed into whatever mailbox is set as default. You can change this behaviour with the Default Address settings.
First log onto Cpanel, and then scroll down to the Email management section.

Click on the Default Address option.

To change the behaviour of e-mail destinations not specifically set elsewhere click the Set Default Address link.

- Fill in the full e-mail address for the mailbox that default e-mails should be delivered to. This should be an e-mail address configured in the POP accounts section. Once done click Change to save the setting.
Note that just putting the username of the mailbox is insufficient - this must be the full e-mail address.
- Alternatively fill in :blackhole: to silently discard e-mail sent to an address you have not specifically set up. Click Change to save the setting.
- Another option is to fill in :fail: This address doesn't exist to reject the e-mail with a message This address doesn't exist. You can change this message as you see fit. Click Change to save the setting.
E-mail domain forwarding setup:
If you have more than one domain name set up on your Cpanel account then you can easily apply all the forwarding settings from one domain name to another with the following option: Note that you will need to have parked the new domain name first (see the Related article for details on how to do this)
Log on to Cpanel and scroll down to the Email Management section.

Click on the Email Domain Forwarding link.

Click on the Add Domain Forwarder link.

Select which domain you wish to replicate settings to in the drop down menu on the left and fill in the domain you wish to copy the settings from in the right hand box.
Once complete click the Add Domain Forwarder button. Your new domain name will now be using all the same forwarding settings as the one it has been copied from.
