ADSL Technical Details Overview
Aim of this article:
To outline and review the received e-mail from our Customer Services after placing an order for ADSL with Zen Internet, see the example below:
Note: Keep these details safe as you will need the username when contacting Technical Support. Also for security issues please do not release the password to anyone. If someone contacts you claiming to be from Zen Internet do not release the password, we already know your password and would not ask you for it.
The first section of this e-mail details the order information:

Please review this section of the e-mail carefully. Any error could result in you ADSL line being provisioned incorrectly or delay the activation date.
The next section details your Technical Details which starts with your ADSL username and password:

These details are vital in successfully connecting your ADSL line to Zen. When entering your details into your modem or router make sure of the following points:
username: This must contain the '@zen' portion and not '@zen.co.uk'
password: This is case-sensitive. 'FdSiVm8' isn't the same as 'fdsivm8'

After your username & password, the advanced section details specific ADSL configuration information, that some modems and routers require to create and maintain a stable internet connection.

The following section details the IP address ranges you have been allocated, the following example is for an ADSL connection with 8 public IP addesses:

If you have ordered an ADSL connection with 1 public IP address, an example would look like this:

The next section of the e-mail details the ADSL information for a Zen ADSL connection. This information would be required by your modem/router to connect.
When subscribing to ZenADSL you get a backup dialup account, so that in the event your ADSL connection goes down, you can still connect to the Internet and collect important e-mails or check the service status.

These details are the same as those used in your ADSL connection and as a result you cannot use the backup dial-up at the same time as your ADSL connection, also please check the following :
username: This must contain the '@zen' portion and not '@zen.co.uk'
password: This is case-sensitive. 'FdSiVm8' isn't the same as 'fdsivm8'
The 0845 number is charged at your telephone operator's local call rate. Contact your provider for specific costs.
When you subscribe to ZenADSL, you also get an e-mail account and access to our Usenet (news) service. The Technical Details for these services are also included in this e-mail.

NOTE: Your E-mail username is not the same as those used for your ADSL and dialup connections, make certain that you're not using the '@zen' portion when collecting your e-mail.
The Zen news server, or Usenet, is accessable from any Zen connection using the address news.zen.co.uk. Authentication isn't required to access this service.

The final section of the Technical Details e-mail contains information about how to access your basic webspace.

NOTE: Your FTP username is not the same as those used for your ADSL and dialup connections, make certain that you're not using the '@zen' portion when connecting to your FTP space.
