Troubleshoot your USB Modem Setup
If you are experiencing problems with your USB modem please review the Zen support article on USB Modems USB Modems. If you are still experiencing problems please review the list of posssible errors below:
Power light and ADSL light are not lit:
- Ensure the modem is plugged in and the drivers are installed.
- Reboot the machine.
- Re-install the drivers.
- Unplug other USB equipment and if it works, try with a powered USB hub.
Flashing power light:
- Ensure the modem is plugged in and the drivers are installed.
- Reboot the machine.
- Re-install the drivers.
- Unplug other USB equipment and if it works, try with a powered USB hub.
No dial-tone:
- Ensure the modem is plugged in and the drivers are installed.
- Reboot the machine.
- Re-install the drivers.
- Unplug other USB equipment and if it works, try with a powered USB hub.
Device not found:
- Ensure the modem is plugged in and the drivers are installed.
- Reboot the machine.
- Re-install the drivers.
- Unplug other USB equipment and if it works, try with a powered USB hub.
Flashing ADSL light:
- See the related knowledgebase articles 'DSL Filter troubleshooting' and 'ADSL Modem Synchronisation'.
Windows Error 691:
- Check that your username and password are entered correctly.
For ADSL connections your username will be in the format: xxxxxxxx@zen Your password is case sensitive, please ensure the correct case to applied to the relavent characters.
Windows Error 721:
- Create a new connection.
Ensure when creating the connection 'Dial-up adapter' is selected, instead of 'Broadband adapter'. If you are unsure of how to do this, please contact the Zen Technical Support team.
