Windows Mail - Using E-mail whilst travelling

Aim of this Article:

This article provides instructions for configuring Windows Mail to send and receive e-mail over a secure (SSL) connection. By following this guide you will be able to use your Laptop to send e-mail using Zen Internet's mail servers while travelling and using other connections (e.g. wireless hotspots/mobile tethering). SSL provides encryption for incoming and outgoing e-mail.

NOTE: You must configure your outgoing server as detailed below if you intend to send e-mail from anywhere other than your Zen Internet Broadband or other Zen Internet connectivity product.

Configuring Windows Mail:

Before configuring Windows Mail to receive e-mail over an SSL connection, you should set up your mail client as per this Related Article.

Configuring Windows Mail to use SSL:

First, open Windows Mail.

Once Windows Mail is open click on Tools and then Accounts.

Select your Zen account and click Properties.

Click on the Servers tab.

Put a tick in the box My server requires authentication under Outgoing Mail Server.

Click on the Advanced tab.

Click both options that say This server requires a secure connection (SSL).

Ensure that both boxes are ticked and the text box highlighted has the numbers "995".

Click OK.

Click Close.
