Configuring the .NET usage checker client

Aim of this article:

This article has been created to guide users through the configuration and usage of the .Net broadband usage checker.

Signing In:

To start using the broadband usage check double click the usage checker icon on the desktop.

After installing the usage checker you must agree to the licence agreement. Once you have read the license agreement, check the box indicating that you accept the terms and conditions.

Click Start.

The first time you run the application you will be asked to enter your Zen portal username and password, this is to allow the application to access your portal account and retrieve the information. Once you have done this click OK.

Using the Usage Checker:

The application will connect to the portal and place an icon in the system tray.  Hovering over this will display your username, your current product, your usage so far this month and the total usage allowance.

Right click the icon to display the menu interface for the application. From here you will be able to access more information about your usage and the ADSL line itself.

Clicking Show current statistics for default account will display the above information.  This can also be displayed by left clicking the icon once.

- Purchase Additional download usage for default account
- Re-grade your default account

Both of these will launch your internet browser and open the Zen Customer Portal page to effect the changes to the account.

Clicking Change default account will allow you to change the default information displayed in the checker, multiple accounts will only be visible if the portal details you have entered have the rights to view other ADSL accounts.

Show statistics table will display the usage for the specified date range; this can be increased in the settings menu. More information is available later on in the guide.

Show detailed information allows you to view more in-depth information on your line including information BT send us regarding your line. For fixed rate line speed products these options may not be available.

The Line rate data option under Line Data displays your synchronisation speed information captured by BT.  Some of this information may be incomplete, however this does not mean the checker is broken.

Synchronisation data shows the latest BT information regarding the expected service your line should achieve. Maximum stable rate shows the maximum sync speed your line can stably achieve. Should the sync speed drop below the fault threshold rate please contact technical support for assistance.

Usage details tab allows you to view a breakdown of usage for the current month. This information is for the default account.

Settings:

This section of the guide explains the usage of the Settings option in the menu interface.

The Portal sign-in details tab allows you to alter the username and password, should you want to monitor an alternate account or update details that may have changed.

The Date range tabe controls the information displayed in the statistics table option. Selecting a wider rage of dates will allow you to see your usage over the range of specified.

The Broadband Accounts tab displays the account that you have access to view.  For most users this will only display the main account. From this window you can also add an alias for an account.

The Program settings tab enables the proxy server settings. In most cases you will not need to enable this. In the event that you are behind a proxy server please check with your network administrator for assistance.
